Greetings, fellow Christ-followers!
I hope your week has gone well and that you've had the chance to be outside a bit on this gorgeous day. Many are traveling this time of year, so wherever this finds you, may God's blessings and protection go with you!
My apologies for the late cryptic notice of our livestream on Sunday. I could not for the life of me get the camera to talk to my laptop, and it only went live there in the last minutes before we began. I think I found the faulty cable today and had a fully deployed run through of things this afternoon. Oakhaven's YouTube Channel is HERE. Be sure to subscribe to it, and you'll get notices when our service goes live.
I'm writing a bit earlier than usual this week to make sure everyone has the information for Duane's father's memorial service this Saturday. It will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Boulevard. Lakeview requires that all who attend wear masks. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the service. Following the service, burial will be at the grave site with full military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard.
Also, it's taken me a long time, but I think I've figured out how to access more of the children's bulletins. I attach several options, a few for older and a few for younger kids. You can print them out and have fun with them no matter HOW old you are!
I am also including notes from Tuesday's Common Ground meeting with volunteer opportunities, etc. below. Have a wonderful weekend, friends.
Blessings!
Larry
Oshkosh Food Pantries have plenty of food thanks to partnerships like Feeding America. Knock and Go food deliveries continue to help many who do not have transportation. Volunteer drivers needed for twice a week. Call the food pantry to volunteer. There are plenty of diapers for those who need them. They could drop more food at convenient sites if requested and organized.
Oshkosh Cooling Site for August - volunteers needed
The Winnebago County Health Department is looking for volunteers to help with operations of a cooling site at First Congregational Church in Oshkosh (137 Algoma Blvd). Volunteers will help provide a safe and cool respite from the heat to individuals, especially seniors, people experiencing homelessness, and people who do not have working air conditioning. Volunteers can choose shift times on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in August from noon – 4:00pm. Duties will include:
1. Help to prepare and open the site (wipe down tables, chairs, and bathroom, set out water, put a date on the check-in sheet, unlock the facility)
2. Welcome guests and provide face mask, water, and reading materials (cards, games, newspaper, etc)
3. Help close the site (wipe down surfaces, secure garbage, lock facility)
The site will follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines, including face masks, limiting the number of guests, physical distancing, and cleaning. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Lynnsey Erickson at lerickson@co.winnebago.wi.us or 920-252-5928.
